Jaroslaw Markowicz's SOLA Collection: A Blend of Minimalism, Functionality, and Sustainability

The SOLA collection was inspired by the ubiquitous need for mobile device charging and the growing trend of sustainable living. Markowicz envisioned a minimalist, functional, and eco-friendly solution that would cater to this need. The result is a collection of garden furniture that not only serves its primary function but also harnesses solar energy to charge mobile devices.

The uniqueness of the SOLA collection lies in its ability to generate clean solar energy. The furniture features solar cells with a total power of 26 watts, discreetly housed within the design. These cells charge an internal battery, which can then be used to charge mobile devices and illuminate the tabletop. The size of the solar panel has been optimally fitted to meet energy needs, making the SOLA products independent and eco-friendly.

The SOLA collection includes a coffee table, a sunbed, and a high table, all made of powder-coated steel and aluminum. The design allows for quick service and replacement of components, and the photovoltaic panel is not an integral part, ensuring that all components can be recycled after use. The furniture is equipped with USB and USB-C sockets for charging and an LED backlight activated by a touch button.

The design process, which took place in Warsaw, began in May 2019 and culminated in January 2020. The project involved extensive research and testing, including assessing the demand for outdoor charging and determining the optimal size of the solar panel and battery capacity. The engineering challenge was to create lightweight and durable structures that could accommodate all the electronic components.

The SOLA collection is a testament to Markowicz's commitment to sustainable design and innovation. The minimalist look, high functionality, and lightness of the construction make the SOLA collection ideal for various settings, from gardens to restaurants and cafes.
